These tools can be very bulky and will often lead to increases in the usage of energy. The energy consumption is therefore kept in check by using diodes instead of the other out-dated units.

The diodes allow for control abilities of the intensities of the desired wavelengths. This is easily done by dimming the unit as need arises. This quality is extremely useful for vegetable farming because it has been found that the anti-oxidation properties of vegetables are greatly enhanced when wavelengths are adjusted.
